Description

LED-HD film is a high contrast film for use in scanners and imagesetters equipped with light-emitting diodes (LEDs). It is not suitable for red laser diode (RLD) exposure.

Features

  • Dimensionally stable
  • Antistat properties for ease of handling even after processing
  • Very linear
  • Provides extremely sharp images
  • Rapid, uniform drawdown

Safelights

Handle film in total darkness or under dark green safelighting until processed. If a safelight is used, keep the paper at least 4 feet (1.2 meters) from the safelight.

Recommended Safelighting:

  • Low wattage incandescent lamp with a Wratten #3 (dark green) filter or equivalent
  • EncapSulite™ T30/ND 1.75 fluorescent safelight
  • EncapSulite T40 fluorescent safelight

Storage

Keep unexposed film and processed film in a cool, dry place. Process film as soon as possible after exposure.

Exposure

LED-HD film is intended for scanners and imagesetters equipped with LEDs as the exposure source operating at 660680 nanometers. Exact exposure recommendations vary with the particular equipment and procedures involved. Follow the recommendations of the equipment manufacturer for setting exposure and calibrating halftones.

Processing

LED-HD film is best suited for rapid access hard dot processing. Refer to the container labels for mixing and other instructions regarding the processing chemicals.

Processing Recommendations

Before handling or using any chemical product, be sure to read the Material Safety Data Sheet for health hazard data, precautionary information and suggested first aid.

Use these recommendations as a starting point. For optimum results, use:

  • RA-HD developer/replenisher (1:2)
  • RF-HD fixer/replenisher (1:3)

At a DMax equal to or greater than 4.90, a 50%-51% midtone dot should be achievable, and a near ideal tonal response. Calibration is recommended.

Process Time Temp Replenishment Rate (50% Area Exposed)
RA-HD developer 30-45 seconds 95°F (35°C) 0.40 ml/sq inch (620 ml/sq meter)
RA-HD fixer 30-45 seconds 90°F (32°C) 0.35 ml/sq inch (540 ml/sq meter)
